I finally got around to reading The Art of War by Sun Tzu. I'd
heard so much about the book and how great it was that I really was
looking forward to it. After reading nearly 200 pages of fluff by
probably the only author that actually made history boring for me (and
this from a history minor and avid Egyptology student) I was ready to
start in. It was a slightly underwhelming start and I thought maybe it
would get better as I still had what appeared to be nearly half the
book remaining. A few more pages in and it still didn't get farther
than common sense that was nowhere near the pinicle of military prowess
I expceted. Then I turned the page, and it said notes. That was it. I
still had at least a third of the book remaining and it was onto the
notes on the translation. I'm now reading Caesar, at least his answer
to everything isn't "teh ambush".
